Hi, I'm Kev, and for over 35 years my life has been dedicated to two things: Electronics and music.

By trade, I'm an experienced IT and Radio Engineer. But my passion for repair started long before that. Even as a child, I was obsessed with taking things apart to understand how they worked. A curiosity that quickly turned into a skill for fixing and modifying just about anything electronic.

My unique background as a semi-professional musician for the last three decades (touring, singing, and playing across the UK) means I intimately understand the gear that musicians rely on. I know that a broken synthesizer, amplifier, or pedal isn't just a repair job - it's a critical part of someone's creative life. That's why I founded Athertronics.
More than just repairs:
My expertise covers a wide range of electronic equipment, but I specialize in making high - quality audio and musical gear perform better than ever. Some of my recent projects include:

-
Synthesizer Modification: Adding MIDI functionality to vintage analogue synths, as an example I’ve significantly modded units like the Jen SX1000 for expanded capabilities.
-
Guitar & Amp Work: From snapped headstocks and custom builds to amplifier mods, speaker swaps, and adding preamps to non-electro acoustic guitars.
-
Unique Builds & Customization: Building and modding microphones (ribbon mods, custom low-fi mics), building countless guitar pedals, and integrating modern tech like Bluetooth modules into vintage Hi-Fi amplifiers.
-
General Electronics: Restoring equipment damaged in a house fire and keeping countless modern devices (iPads, game consoles, phones) running for my own family.

When you bring your equipment to me, you're getting the experience of a dedicated engineer who truly understands the value of your gear.
